falling in love

Falling in love is simply the scariest and the most beautiful thing to ever happen. If you have fallen in love, then you know what I mean. When we fall in love, we recognize the powerful feelings of longing which can cause us to be emotionally exposed and scared. On the other hand, I think the reason that love is such a beautiful thing is because it is a lot like beauty itself. It is that unspeakable connection with a person. It is very abstract and can be hard to describe. It is something that has a different meaning for each person.

I have fallen in love and I am falling in love. The difference is not in who they are but by how they can be defined as.

My first love, you know who you are, was everything I needed and is everything I want. Our love is unique. We started off without God in our lives and we ended with God in our lives. Our love changed throughout that process because we realized how important we both were for each other. We have been through hell and high waters and with all of that, I am still falling in love with him each and everyday.

The second love of my life is my Lord and savior. He is the one that I am continuously falling in love with. He challenges me when I am comfortable. He guides me when I am lost, and loves me all the time, no matter what I am feeling. I choose to put Him first in my life because He is my happiness. He is who I can rely on.

Worshiping is a way we can show our love for God and give him thanks for all that he has done for us. So what if you tried loving God the way you love your partner, what would come out of it? Or how about this, what if you tried loving your partner the way you love God? OR…what if you tried loving your partner the way GOD LOVES YOU???!! I enjoy that last question because we should all love each other the way God loves us, but it is not that simple. The only way that can happen is to have God change our hearts. We need to make sure we put him first and then he will guide us and make us new. 1 John 4:19-21 says this: “Our love for others is our grateful response to the love God first demonstrated to us. Anyone can say, ‘I love God,’ yet have hatred toward another believer. This makes him a phony, because if you don’t love a brother or sister, whom you can see, how can you truly love God, whom you can’t see? For he has given us this command: whoever loves God must also demonstrate love to others.”

Here are some questions you may want to ask yourself:

  • Am I putting God first in my life? If not, what can I do to change that?
  • Am I continuously falling in love with Him?
  • In what ways am I showing my love for Him?

I am going to end with Romans 8:35 (if you all don’t know, Romans and Galatians are my favorite books, and I also tend to use the passion translation A LOT). The verse says:

“Who could ever separate us from the endless love of God’s Anointed One? Absolutely NO ONE! For NOTHING in the universe has the POWER to diminish his love toward us. Troubles, pressures, and problems are UNABLE to come between us and heaven’s love. What about persecutions, deprivations, dangers, and death threats? No, for they are all impotent to hinder omnipotent love,” (the passion translation)

This is one of my favorite verses and when I read it, I am declaring it to be true! Jesus Christ is loving us with a moment-by-moment love, a preeminent love, that gives us everlasting joy. Nothing is able to come between you and our Father. So don’t worry. Just sit back and relax (Jesus, Take the Wheel by Carrie Underwood starts to play…). Haha but really, you have nothing to worry about. All you need to focus on is loving God and just falling in love with him every single day.

Much Love,

Emily xoxo
