the person God has for you

I love you, Lord; you are my strength.

Psalms 18:1 NLT

I have had probably one of the hardest couple of months. Today was probably the hardest of them all. The verse I chose is one that I have been holding close and it is something I need while writing this blog. This is a hard topic for me to talk about, definitely since it’s something I am still going through.

The person God has for you.

If I am being completely honest, at times I feel like there is no one for me. I feel like everyone is moving on with their lives while I am just stuck, which then leads me to think that I’m going to be alone forever, probably turning out to be the cat lady (but more likely dogs) on the block. While struggling with this feeling for a few months now, I have lead to believe that this is not true. I am now choosing to believe that I will receive the man God has for me, and same goes for you too!

So now the question is, how do we move forward after choosing to believe that God has a man for us? It’s plain and simple.

The #1 step is to know yourself, know your identity and your purpose. Identity is established by hearing the voice of God. Who does God say you are? Some ways we might hear God are by words and images that come to mind, and impressions that we sense God. It’s important that you make time to make sense of your purpose.

The #2 step is to pray. I know praying maybe seem hard, definitely when it seems like God isn’t listening. We need to make sure that we are praying with the intent to listen to God, that is how we will receive directions. The Bible and other spiritual leaders can help give you guidance, even me, but to get down to the root of what you are suppose to do needs to be from God alone. God can help confirm things you have been told. Before you pray, ask yourself these questions: What’s your intent when you pray? Do you pray to make a request or to vent? Do you pray in a moment of distress or frustration? Or do you ask a question to receive an answer?

And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words.

Romans 8:26 TPT

The last and final step is to just be fully invested in the Lord. Read His word daily. Think about it. The Bible is our instructions manual. It provides us everything we need to know to live on this Earth. If you can believe that He can provide you a life filled with abundance, then believe that he won’t shortchange you on a partner. Have faith, you are working with God, the one who created the Heavens and the Earth, the one who created all of the hairs on your head. He focuses on all of the details. Please don’t believe He will leave you out. He loves you more than you know.

While God does have a plan for each one of us, we need to remember that we still have work to do on our end. We are not perfect, so be open to make improvements and adjustments. Never believe there is not enough for you. When you pray, it is important you pray for your future partner because they are going through their own struggles right now that will soon lead to you.

I want to see you win. I don’t want to see you hurting. I want to witness you getting everything you deserve. Women, you were created to be a blessing to the man who puts God first (1 Corinthians 11:9 NLT). And men, you were created to be leaders of your household (1 Timothy 3). Be open and receptive to what God has in store for you. It can be scary, but it’s in your best interest and that’s what matters. Continue to pray because we are not God, we are just messengers. So pray about what I said and what your friends say. God can verify.

Every closed door is a humbling, and sometimes painful reminder that all along, God had something better.

  1. Ok this is mom talking…God provides at the perfect time, even though it doesn’t always feel that way and it seems the grass is greener everywhere else. I know! Believe me! It’s really not greener over there. You just don’t see their weeds….or the bullet you just dodged. Yes, you have dodged some “bullets” in your young life. Enjoy the friendships you make along the way and hey, cultivate what is directly around you within your reach. You my dear are a treasure and very loved. There probably some guy out there right now saying wow, Emily would never like a guy like me. Remember, I’m always here for you. Don’t forget, I’m one of those people God has for you.

  2. So well written. Love your thoughts. God has someone very special for you. God’s timing may not always be our timing. His timing is perfect. Their is someone. Trust the Lord to bring the two of you together.
